One of my pet peeves is Dry, Chapped Lips!
I understand that it’s especially problematic in the Winter so I’m going to let you how to very easily Exfoliate, Condition, and Hydrate your Lips. ^_^
Now this only takes a minute to do and is recommended a few times a week.
First Apply a thick layer of Vaseline to your lips.
Then, using super soft toothbrush (kid’s toothbrushes work great), simply rub your lips gently in circular motions. The toothbrush will exfoliate and the Vaseline will heal and hydrate so your lips are smooth and soft!
For extra conditioning, leave Vaseline on the lips overnight or you can add a lil bit of crushed blush pieces to add some color to the Vaseline and wear it out!
Now my favorite addition is this…
If you are even MORE ambitious go on and add a drop of Vanilla or some crushed mint to your Vaseline mix for a delicious and kissable lip!

See these tips below:
So you have Swollen, Tired Eyes?
But No Ice Mask? No Cucumbers? no problem my fellow night owl!
Just wet and flatten down some cotton balls and place them on wax paper in the freezer. When ready, lie down and place them over your eyes for at least 15mins. Perfect excuse to just be.
Puffy Face?
Already did the damage by eating too many salt induced foods? Drinking a bit much or just retaining water?
Dilute the salt by drinking lots of water! Do drink caffeine-free fluids, like peppermint tea, which can also ease any digestion issues. And to help keep fluids from pooling in your face overnight, sleep propped up on two or three pillows.
Flushed Face?
Cooking over a Hot Stove? Rushing about in a hurry? Post workout perhaps?
Chewing on ice chips is super quick. Or when I’m cooling actors down on a hot set I go on draping a slightly damp, cold towel around their neck. But yet another way to cool down is to pat your face with a cloth soaked in cold milk. The lactic acid has an anti-inflammatory effect and it is incredibly soothing!

Palm Springs International Film Festival was held this over the weekend, officially kicking off Awards Season here in Hollywood.
First up, Golden Globes!
What Fashion, Hair and Makeup are you predicting this season?
I agree with Joe Zee of Elle Magazine who says that Jewel Tones will be prominent. He also mentioned Pastels and Neons but I will believe it when I see it and perhaps we will, however, I don’t count on that for the Golden Globes.
My personal prediction is Sheer Fabrics, even sheer sleeves as an alternative to the usual strapless ballgown. I find it an elegant choice which I hope to see this weekend.
I do predict beautiful appliques will be a statement and even more fun will be seeing them in hairstyles. Or perhaps some bold jewelry with a sleek dress design? That is always a classic and attractive way to show face on an awards night.
And if you know me and my adoration for anything vintage, I cannot tear myself away from the idea that the upcoming Great Gatsby Film and the Hit Show, Downton Abbey won’t have it’s influence on the Red Carpet this year. I really hope it does and we will see a modern twist on some 1920’s hairstyles!
A Matte Red Lip is in this season and I am a fan of the matte smokey eye with a very shiny black liner in contrast, but I also know that Jewel Tones are big for eyeshadow this year so I am sure we will be seeing both.
I am very much looking forward to seeing everyone come out this season.
Perhaps you too can doll yourself up in red carpet fashion, get a group together and watch it all unfold this year at your home or a find a friend who loves hosting!
I’m very interested in what your predictions and desires on the Red Carpet are as well. What do you think we will see in 2013? Who are you excited to see?
Winter-y weather leaves nails and skin dehydrated. Dried-out nails not only unattractive but are more likely to break, split, and chip. It’s time to pay extra care to your hands during these chilling months not only because it can reduce painful cracking of the skin, but help slow down the signs of aging as well.
Do: Keep Rich Lotions by the Sink to get into the habit of using them after every hand wash.
Don’t: Wash Dishes without Gloves.
Do: Massage cuticle oil into nail beds nightly. Olive Oil works as well!
Don’t: Use Alcohol based Hand Sanitizers (which all are) without using moisturizing lotion after.
If you are a crafty person like myself or often have your hands in water (ahem, my fellow hairstylists understand this, right?) be sweet to yourself and prepare an easy to do at home Hot oil treatment which is a great way to cure dry and splitting nails (my own personal struggle).
You can do this simply by Heating olive oil (warm to touch). Adding some drops of lemon juice. Soak hands and nails for 10-15 minutes. Put on gloves after the hot oil treatment and leave them for 20 minutes or overnight for best results.
Gloves are fun and useful this time of year but you don’t want to keep them on just to hide your hands. Besides, it’s especially fun to wow onlookers with a lovely manicure underneath it all. So enjoy these winter months without having to hide unsightly nails by using a few of the tips I’ve just shared. :)
Extra Tip Added: To whiten your nails, soak your nails in water with lemon juice or lemon slices for about 10 minutes. You will be surprised at the results!

Since we just had the Golden Globes, I wanted to follow up on my guesses as well as share my personal favorites, as well as those I wanted to help.
There was quite a lot of lovliness on the carpet this season that it has been very difficult to pick my most loved but I am planting my claim this year on…
Jessica Alba,
The dress is a beautiful hue (difficult to pull off orange in my opinion) along with her Jewelry choice, soft side swept hair and coral lips, everything on her pulled together fantastically! I even adore her fun clutch! Don’t you?
My winner in the Men’s Department is…
Ben Affleck,
Who is handsomely wearing a Dark Navy Blue Gucci 3 piece suit, very well, might I add! Such a great classic choice when opting for something other than Black while still adorning a Black Tie.
Even Jennifer Gardner looked amazing in her deep red/crimson Vivienne Westwood Gown and played along nicely with Ben’s suit as we found her sporting a deep navy blue ring. Might as well accessorize with your man, right ladies?
Side swept hair with vintage waves were all the rage and I loved them ALL!
But my Favorite Hair of the Night goes to Jessica Chastain who also wore the most amazing color gown that definitely made my top 5 list for the night.
Her makeup is also flawless!!!
My second pick for Hair is Julianne Hough with this volumized braided mohawk updo! Her dress was also in my top 5! I will post it below. She absolutely Rocked it last night! Seacrest didn’t look bad at all as well. I am digging on that Pocket Square Ryan. Nice Touch! They are a lovely pair!
Julianne is photographed here with her original red carpet arrival dress and her 2nd change dress which is another great choice. I love the soft pale pink with sleek satin sides and an edgy shoulder. It’s fun!
Let us not dare forget about JLo’s phenomenal Lace number on the carpet last night. It was stunning!!! It’s always difficult to do white lace and not look like a doily but she landed it spot on with this sultry gown.
Lace certainly made the spotlight last night!
And her Hair was fabulous! The Pinning was delicately placed, unlike some other hairstyling I witnessed photos of. (tsk! tsk!)
There were a handful of Red Dresses as you can see. While I don’t hate any of them, the thing that bothered me the most was that I felt like Zooey was lost in the fabric below her pretty waist and then I while I was wowed by Jennifer Lawrence’s dress (and overall look) at first, I then got a closeup view and found myself extremely bothered by the Bust of the design, giving her breasts a funny shape. (see below)
doesn’t it make her breasts look like they are sagging, pointing down?
Otherwise, I thought it a great dress and found the belt a great styling edge to a classic bell shaped cut gown. I enjoyed her messy/piece-y low pulled back hair which showed off her pretty face.
Before wrapping this up I would like to add another man into the mix of favorites.
Eddie Redmayne was a fantastic item on the red carpet with his velvet tux jacket by Hugo Boss and thin bowtie that matched his lapel. Sharp!
Last but certainly not least here is none other than Nicole Ritchie in her absolutely Stunning Blue Applique Dress which was reminiscent of something in the late 60’s or early 70’s in my opinion and I LOVED it!
It was said blue eyes were making a come back this spring and she pulled it off amazingly, which is not easy to do on her tan skin tone without making it look like a Tammy Fae throwback. Well Done Nicole! You continue to stun me with your elegant yet fun choices on the carpet.
